Do you think your children Spoiled?

No simple answer. Yes, that is true - no simple answer. Let's make a guess, that most parents (AND grandparents) would find other children being spoiled by their own parents, while they don't realize they actually do. Do you?

Parents nowadays are financially more stable, as compared to old days, and therefore, the children are more privileged in getting things they wanted to have. Not to mention the working parents who wish to shed off the guiltiness of not being with the children for most of the time.

I met a lady, who only visited her son that stayed with the grandma, during weekends. She spent a expensive set of DVDs for her son. Before i could ask more, she gave me a guilty look, said "I don't read him stories at night, i hope i could give him something good!". Being a parent, this is way too straight forward to understand the feeling. Yet remember always "You don’t have to be wealthy to overindulge a child with stuff"- quoted from How Spoiled Are Our Children? No Simple Answer.

The affection and love from parents, is no boundary, and that is what we always want to give to our children. But does that means we don't step into the 'territory of spoiling' ? Get some insights from the article. Happy Reading!

Early Music Lessons Have Longtime Benefits

Do you agree?

I believe so. I started off my little girl with classical music when she was still in my stomach. I teach her how to sing nursery rhythms ever since she is born. She picks up the songs very well. I sent her to weekends musical playgroup when she was two, for getting closer to group of her age. A very fun spend-time, with pretty good props, and musical instruments for this age of children. However, we stopped after a few lessons, after some consideration - the teacher wasn't too fit (she does not have the patient & passion as of a mother does) for conducting this kind of lessons.

Yet i do strongly believe the benefits that music would bring for us, and this article giving me more confidences to start the kids at younger age. As parents, let our kids trying out different kinds of music lessons if our financial allows. We may see a different character or potential emerged from our beloved ones. Wouldn't that be a great experience?

“If you get a kid who is maybe 3 or 4 years old and you’re teaching them to attend, they’re not only working on their auditory skills but also working on their attention skills and their memory skills — which can translate into scholastic learning,”

TIPS: How to bring humidity to air-con room?

Sleeping in air-conditioned room is a 'must' for my family, why? simply because 'get used to it' (yeah, i know it's not environmentally green). However, i do have this problem, or rather uncomfortability - dryness in my airway, and of course to the skin too.

It's not a too serious issue for Malaysia (or Asia) weather due to the humidity level in the country. But recent haze that folded the country has definitely bring uneasiness to many of us. I can even feel the dryness level worsen.

This makes me to recall the device i used to have in the States when i lived couple months for business purpose - Humidifier! I couldn't emphasize more how useful is this device to help in combating the dry air in the States. The concept is very simple, the device is just gonna generate heats to the water (you need to fill up water) and evaporate out the mist to the room.

Google searched image

Well, i have been searching for this device here at most of the major electrical appliances stores, and i couldn't find a good one. The closest i could get is air purifier. Hmmm ... This is not what i want!

OK, friends around shared with me, that i can put a bowl of water, (or any types of containers) in the room to help on the humidity. So, to be a 'kiasu' person, i use a wide diameter plate instead, with the engineering calculation that wider dimension brings up more surface for the water to 'disappear'. Right? Agree? :)

This method didn't bring much improvement, actually i would say it's slow improvement. So, one day, this idea came to my mind - if you need to have your clothing dry before next day, the best way is to hang in a air-conditioned room.

I apply the same method too, but not with the intention of drying up the clothing, but to bring humidity to my room. Oh, pls note that i don't really hang the clothes though, i'm using small towel instead for the sake of pleasant environment (But one can do that too - afterall, it's one stone kills two birds). After a trial of 2 nights, i can feel the airway dryness improved. Although i couldn't tell from my skin condition, but i do believe it should help. Most importantly, it's cost free!

What have you tried in bringing in humidity (or good air) to your place?

Marla Olmstead Paintings

How does an abstract artwork reads in your mind? How does that be interpreted differently for a child and an adult. By the age of 4, Marla Olmstead has had her paintings sold for tens of thousands of US dollars. Marla started off along side her dad at the age of two, where most of her family members are professional artists. I guess we called that "genetic factor" ya?

More paintings available @ her website.
